JAN 10 8 PM "NO END IN SIGHT"

This in-depth, award winning documentary from filmmaker (and former Brookings Instituion fellow) Charles Ferguson examines the decisions that led to the 2003 U.S. invasion of Iragi and the handling of the subsequent occupation by President George Bush and his administration. Featuring exclusive interviews with central players and detailed analysis, the film pulls no punches as it chronicles the twists and turns America took on the path to war.

Jan 24 8PM "Who killed the Electric Car?"

Amid ever-increasing gas prices, this documentary delves into the short life of the GM EVI electric car--once all the rage in the mid-1990s and now fallen by the roadside. How could such an efficent, green friendly vehicle fail to transform our garages and skies? Through interviews with government officials, former GM employees and concerned celebs (such as EVI driver Mel Gibson), Chris Pane (former EVI owner) seeks to answer the question.

Feb 7 8PM " Lost Boys of Sudan"

This award-winning documentary follows to Sudanese refugees throughout their intense journey from their native Africa to the United States. As orphans living in the middle of a brutal civil war, Peter and Santino dealt with dangers like lion attacks and gunfire from militia. But even more daunting are the challenges they face in suburbia after they're chosen to start a new life in America.

Feb 21 8PM "Letters Iwo Jima"

As tens of thousands of allied troops push further inland, the Japenese troops defending Iwo Jima during World War II prepare to meet their fate in this Clint Eastwood-directed Oscar nominee for Best Picture, a companion piece to his hit film Flags of Our Fathers. Japenese Gen. Tadamichi Kuribayashi Kuribayashi (Ken Wantanabe) knows his men are outnumbered and, with no hope of rescue, that most will eventually die in battle--or end up killing themselves.

Mar 6 8PM "Tigre Neige"

Borrowing a bit from this oscar-winning film life is Beautiful, Italian actor-director Robert Benigni plays a romantic poet who vows to follow his love (Benigni's real-life wife, Nicoletta Braschi) to the ends of the earth-- even if that means going to Irag at the dawn of the American invasion. Skirting political bias, Benigni's whimsical comedy presents a world in which all camps are absurd. French actor Jean Reno co-stars.

Free Summer Comedy Series - Mel Brooks and Woody Allen(Please come in and Cool off with your Temple Friends)

Thur August 2 8:00 PM SpaceBalls (1987)Comic genius Mel Brooks strikes back in this spoof of the Star Wars trilogy. When the nefarious Dark Helmet (Rick Moranis) hatches a plan to snatch Princess Vespa (Daphne Zuniga) and steal her planet's air, space-bum-for-hire Lone Starr (Bill Pullman) and his clueless sidekick (John Candy) fly to the rescue. Along the way, they meet Yogurt (Brooks), who puts Lone Starr wise to the power of "The Schwartz." Can he master it in time to save the day?

Thur August 9 8:00 PM The King of Comedy(1983)Director Martin Scorsese hits a satirical bulls-eye in this black comedy that explores the absurd lengths to which nebbish Rupert Pupkin (Robert De Niro) will go to land a spot on the TV talk show of his idol, Jerry Langford (a wonderfully caustic Jerry Lewis). Pupkin believes that one appearance on Langford's show will be his ticket to stardom, so he kidnaps his idol and sets into motion a chain of events you have to see to believe!

Thur August 16 8:00 PM Sleeper (1973)Health-food store proprietor Miles Monroe (Woody Allen) bites the dust in 1973 and ends up cryogenically frozen. Defrosted into a Big Brother dystopia where people pleasure themselves with an "orgasmatron" and dissidents' brains are "electronically simplified," Miles becomes a hunted man. He masquerades as an android butler in the home of a self-indulgent poet (Diane Keaton), but the ruse doesn't last, and soon they're both on the lam.

Thur August 23 8:00 PM Bananas (1971)Neurotic nebbish Fielding Mellish (Woody Allen) follows his dream girl (Louise Lasser) to the fictitious Latin American nation of San Marcos, where he unintentionally becomes a freedom fighter for a revolutionary leader. But shortly after taking the reins of power, the new strongman goes -- you guessed it -- bananas, leaving Fielding in command to bargain with the United States. Watch for Sylvester Stallone in a microscopic role.

Thur August 30 8:00 PM Annie Hall (1977)Listen closely and you can actually hear the stress hormones pumping through the bodies of the characters in Annie Hall. Woody Allen's real, funny ode to love among twitchy city dwellers scooped up Oscars for Best Picture, Best Direction, Best Actress (Diane Keaton) and Best Screenplay. And don't miss cameos of not-yet-stars Jeff Goldblum, Shelley Duvall and Sigourney Weaver.

Free Summer Comedy Series - Mel Brooks and Woody Allen
(Please come in and Cool off with your Temple Friends)

Thur July 12
8:00 PM

Blazing Saddles
(1974)

Politically incorrect and relentlessly funny, Mel Brooks's take on Hollywood Westerns follows the tortured trail of freed slave Cleavon, who's elected sheriff of the racist town of Rock Ridge. He must foil a land-grabbing governor (Brooks) with help from a washed-up, pot-smoking gunslinger (Gene Wilder).

Thur July 19

2000 Year Old
Man
(1982)

When Carl Reiner and Mel Brooks stepped onstage for the first time to perform their now-legendary skit "The 2000 Year Old Man," they turned live comedy on its head with their irreverent, cutting-edge humor. Catch the dynamic duo riffing on everything from Robin Hood to Saran Wrap in this crowd-pleasing performance as straight-man Reiner interviews a centuries-old Brooks, who shares his wickedly funny musings and opinions with the usual aplomb.

Thur July 26
8:00 PM

The Producers (1968)

In this hysterical farce, rapacious but lovable producer Max Bialystock (Zero Mostel) hasn't had a hit in years. Quite by accident, he and his meek, neurotic accountant, Leo Bloom (Gene Wilder), come up with a plot to oversell shares in a surefire flop musical and make off with the profits -- using the worst play ever written, "Springtime for Hitler." Inspired, manic performances and Brooks's lively direction make The Producers a true gem.
